The UConn Huskies started the weekend with a bang as they added a talented offensive lineman to the class of 2026. The program has built an incredible roster under Jason Candle after losing much of it following Jim Mora’s departure to Michigan State.
Offensive lineman Ben Mulholland has committed to UConn from the transfer portal. The 6-foot-4, 325-pound interior lineman from Houston Christian announced his commitment to the Huskies on January 17, 2026.
“100% Committed UCONN 🏠‼️ #GoHuskies,” Mulholland wrote on X.

Mulholland arrived at UConn with three years of remaining eligibility. He appeared in just one game in the 2024 season but went on to start 10 games in 2025.
Ben Mulholland’s Career
Ben Mulholland played at Bridgeland High School in Cypress, Texas. He earned first-team All-District 16-6A honors as a junior in 2023. During his final year at Bridgeland, Mulholland was named to the 2024 All-District 16-6A team.
He signed with Houston Christian University as a part of their 2024 recruiting class. He played his only game against Northwestern State on November 23, 2024. He was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
In 2025, he started 10 games as a redshirt freshman. He was the highest graded freshman run blocker in the Southland Conference and the top 5 freshman OG Run blocker in all FCS, as per PFF.

What Does Ben Mulholland Bring to UConn?
Mulholland’s physical frame, at 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, provides the size and mass necessary for interior offensive line positions (guard, center). His build differs slightly from UConn’s tackle-focused commitments like Greene-Nyarko (6-6, 340) and Pahanich (6-4, 291), giving the Huskies diversity along the front five.
The Huskies’ tackle group now features Nathan Pahanich, Wake ForestRaphael Greene-Nyarko, and Isiah Switzer, among others.
UConn’s Transfer Portal Commitments
Since the transfer portal opened on January 2, UConn has landed more than 30 additions. Toledo transfer Kalieb Osborne is the projected starting quarterback, competing with freshman Bo Polston and Jake Merklinger.
The backfield will feature veteran Kenji Christian, who brings the most experience after stints at Virginia Tech and North Carolina A&T. New weapons at receiver include Zy’Marion Lang, Jediyah Willoughby, and Kamren Flowers, all from Toledo. The offensive line gets a major boost with Raphael Greene-Nyarko, Isiah Switzer, Dominic Rivera, Fred Johnson, and Nathan Pahanich.
Defensively, the Huskies rebuilt the front with Esean Carter, Melvin Hills III, Desmond Aladuge, Makijah Latiker, Mateo Kipke, Tahjae Mullix, and more, replacing nearly the entire unit. The linebacker group has newcomers Rickey Williams, John Lista, Rodarion Tellez, and Zakaih Saez.
