The UConn Huskies have got to work on the national signing day. Jason Candle and Co. made things official with the Toledo transfer safety, who committed to the program on January 26.
Three-star safety Grant Blascak signed his letter of intent with the Huskies on February 4, 2026. The program announced the news via X.
“⚠️ Storm Advisory: @grant_blascak has touched down in Storrs! #NSD26“
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound defensive back decommitted from Toledo to reunite with Candle at UConn with three years of remaining eligibility.
Grant Blascak’s Career
Grant Blascak wrapped up his high school career at Walsh Jesuit High School in Stow, Ohio, as a nationally rated three-star prospect. He drew interest from several programs, including Toledo, Miami (OH), Buffalo, UMass, and Kent State.
Blascak committed to Toledo in March 2025, but his recruitment shifted when Jason Candle left the program for UConn in early December 2025. Following Candle’s departure, Blascak reopened his recruitment and ultimately chose to follow the head coach to Connecticut.

What does Grant Blascak bring to UConn?
Blascak brings positional versatility, with the ability to line up at both free safety and strong safety, giving the coaching staff flexibility in coverage schemes. With three seasons of eligibility remaining, he is a multi-year piece in the Huskies’ defensive plans.
His frame and athleticism allow him to patrol the middle of the field effectively while still providing reliable physicality in run support.
Blascak becomes part of a rebuilt UConn secondary, helping strengthen the safety group alongside Braedyn Moore, a Toledo transfer, as well as fellow Toledo additions Jayden Price and Tyrique Harris.
