The UConn Huskies have secured a commitment from another former four-star recruit from the transfer portal. The program’s aggressive rebuild has resulted in a roster that might be able to better last season’s 9-3 record.
Defensive back Braedyn Moore has committed to UConn from the transfer portal. He is another acquisition from the Toledo pipeline for Jason Candle’s program. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound safety announced his commitment on January 16, 2026, the final day of the transfer portal window. JPGCFB’s X handle broke the news.
“BREAKING: Former Toledo Defensive Back Braedyn Moore has committed to UConn, he tells me. The 6’2″, 205-lb junior is a former 4-Star and Top 200 Recruit (#18 S) in the 2023 class and began his career at Wisconsin. Will have 2 years of eligibility remaining,” the caption read.

Moore brings two years of remaining eligibility to a Huskies secondary decimated by departures. His commitment addresses secondary needs created by the departures of interception leader Rashaud Chadwick (63 tackles, 4 INTs), D’Mon Brinson, Cam Chadwick, and Lee Molette following Jim Mora’s exit to Colorado State.
Braedyn Moore’s Career
Braedyn Moore played at Stephen T. Badin High School in Hamilton, Ohio. He received 17 Division I offers from programs including Cincinnati, Boston College, Duke, Illinois, and Toledo. As a senior, he recorded 45 tackles, four interceptions, and six pass breakups while earning district defensive player of the year honors and conference defensive player of the year recognition.
Offensively, he caught 79 passes for a conference-best 1,039 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns, earning conference offensive player of the year honors.
During his junior year, Moore charted 54 tackles (41 solo) with seven interceptions and two pick-sixes, while accumulating 61 receptions for 655 yards and four touchdowns on offense. He earned second-team all-state honors, conference offensive player of the year, and Southwest District defensive player of the year recognition.
Moore initially committed to Wisconsin. But later signed with the Badgers during the December early signing period of the 2022 class. During his two seasons at Wisconsin (2023-2024), Moore appeared in just 11 games total.
In 2023, Moore played in four games exclusively on special teams as a true freshman, recording no defensive statistics. During the 2024 season, he rotated at safety, with limited opportunities, appearing in 7 games and recording just 2 tackles.
During the 2025 season at Toledo, Moore recorded six tackles while appearing in all 13 games for the Rockets.
Braedyn Moore completes UConn’s secondary rebuild alongside other portal acquisitions. From December 6 (Candle’s hiring) through January 16 (Moore’s commitment), the Huskies landed approximately 30+ portal commitments.
