The Philadelphia Eagles failed to defend the Vince Lombardi trophy, falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round after finishing the regular season with an 11-6 record. The franchise might be considering adding some firepower to the roster to make a deeper postseason run next year.
CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan has projected the Eagles to make a run for a five-time Pro Bowl defensive end this offseason.

Raiders DE Might Be Headed to Philadelphia
Sullivan expects the Eagles to offer a 2026 first-round pick and a 2027 first-round pick in exchange for Maxx Crosby.
“Howie Roseman is never shy about making a splash in the trade market. Oftentimes, he’s leading the charge on jaw-dropping offseason moves,” Sullivan wrote. “With Phillips set to hit free agency, there’s a possibility Philly will again be on the hunt for pass-rush help. With the franchise still in a Super Bowl window, it should be willing to part with blue-chip draft capital, including its 2026 first-round pick.”
Under Vic Fangio, the Eagles’ defense has been disciplined, but it has occasionally lacked the “game-wrecker” presence that makes a team a Super Bowl contender.
Philadelphia made a splash by trading for Jaelan Phillips mid-season in 2025, but with Phillips now a free agent, there is a massive, $100-million-sized hole on the edge if he isn’t retained. The Eagles currently have about $20.5 million in cap space. Absorbing Crosby’s $35.8M hit for 2026 would require Roseman to perform a massive restructure, likely involving the contracts of Jalen Hurts or Saquon Barkley.
In March 2025, Crosby signed a massive three-year, $106.5 million extension with the Raiders, which included $91.5 million in guarantees.
Klint Kubiak on Maxx Crosby’s Future in Las Vegas
Klint Kubiak, who took over as the Las Vegas Raiders’ head coach after leading the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl as their offensive coordinator, shared his stance on Crosby’s role in the team.
“We want him to be a part of our success going forward. There’s no doubt about that,” Kubiak said. “He’s one of the best players in the NFL. That’s a no-brainer, to get to work with Maxx and see him continue to have success with this organization.”
Maxx Crosby’s Performance in 2025
Despite the team’s 3-14 record and his late injury, Maxx Crosby delivered an impressive season. He played 15 games, all starts, before landing on injured reserve in late December. He recorded 73 total tackles (45 solo, 28 assists), 10 sacks (tied for 15th in the NFL), 28 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles, 6 passes defended, and his first career interception (19 yards).
He led the Raiders in sacks, TFL, FF, and PD, and ranked 5th on the team in tackles. His performance earned him his fifth straight Pro Bowl nod.
