Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens fans are looking at the 2026 season with eager eyes. However, general manager Eric DeCosta has thrown cold water on any major roster change in free agency.
During his appearance on the “Inner Circle Podcast” on Saturday, the Ravens GM shared his strategy for building his team.
“I don’t get as involved with free agency, so I’m not going to spend as much time,” DeCosta said. “We don’t spend a lot of money in free agency as Todd knows. That’s why he’s always hated the Baltimore Ravens, because we’ve never been a free agency team.”
“We’re a draft and develop team so a lot of our resources are going to be acquiring as many draft picks as possible and then using those on players, trying to hit on as many picks as we can, trying to hit on 60 % of our draft picks every single year and trying to retain as many of those guys as we can for a second contract.”
Baltimore Ravens’ 2025 Season
The Ravens finished the 2025 NFL season with an 8-9 record. They were second in the AFC North behind the Pittsburgh Steelers and ninth in the AFC, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
The Ravens started poorly at 1-5 after a Week 6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, their worst start since 2015, but rallied to win seven of their last 11 games. They struggled at home with a 3-6 record but went 5-3 on the road. The season ended with a Week 18 loss to the Steelers, costing them the division title and leading to head coach John Harbaugh‘s firing two days later after 18 years.

Baltimore scored 424 points (16th) while allowing 398 (24th), with a dominant rushing attack (2,662 yards, 3rd) but weak passing (3,278 yards, 32nd). They ranked 11th in sacks (45) but 32nd in opponent passing yards allowed (4,403). Mark Andrews set the franchise receiving yards record at 5,815.
Lamar Jackson’s 2025 Season
Lamar Jackson started 13 games for the Ravens in 2025, completing 192 of 302 passes for 2,549 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. He added 349 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 67 carries. His season was hampered by injuries, as he missed at least one day of practice in nearly every week after his return from a hamstring injury.
